Federation for Cancer Control Conference in Sharjah, 5th to 7th
May 2011, with the main theme being "Colorectal Cancer -
Diagnostics, Treatment and Control."

Sharjah has a large selection of indoor and outdoor activities. The climate during the months of November to April is ideal for activities in and around the city centre of Sharjah.


Bowling has become a popular indoor sport which can be played throughout the year. Plenty of Bowling alleys can be found in of Sharjah. Some centers also organize fun competitions for the players.

Boat Trips

Cruising in a traditional boat is the most enhanced way to unwind. The ride offers a fantastic experience while touring on the Al Khan and Khalid Lagoons.

Camel Safari

One of the most popular activities among tourists visiting Sharjah. Enjoy the rides of various lengths to a variety of stunning destinations.

Desert driving

Desert driving is the most thrilling activity that offers great fun and excitement to the tourists out for adventure. Ask for the Fossil Rock tour which is one of the most popular sand driving areas in the city.


The Sharjah east coast is famous for some of the most impressive scenery in the UAE and diving is a very popular activity here. Get a chance to observe interesting coral reefs and marine life. Turtles, sharks and moray eels can also be seen.

Dune bashing

Desert driving is an art in its own right. There is plenty of sand to practice on within 15 minutes of the city, but please keep to the tracks. Tour operators will arrange desert safaris including sand skiing and even courses in sand driving. 4-wheel drive vehicles can be hired from most rental companies but make sure you have some experience before venturing into the unknown, and always go with at least one other vehicle.


Fishing in Sharjah is a unique experience. The city of Sharjah has an excellent marine environment. Over 500 fish species can be found in the Gulf waters.


Don’t miss the chance of flying, skydiving, parachuting and Para motoring when you are in Sharjah. The Umm Al Quwain Aero club provides all flying facilities throughout the year.


The city has only one golf club that is associated with the Sharjah Wanderers Sports Club. This 18-hole golf course is located at intersection 5 on the Sharjah/Al Dhaid Road.

Horse Riding

The Arab horse thoroughbred is famous throughout the world. Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club situated just 20 minutes from the city provides riding and racing facilities. Experienced riders can enjoy events like covering dressage, show jumping, stable management and endurance racing.

Ice Skating

Sharjah Ladies Club (+97165067777) on the Corniche Road has a national sized ice rink. Public skating and lessons are available to members and to non-members. Skate at Sky 24’s ‘rink in the sky’ located on the 24 floor of Al Durrah Towe.

Jet Skiing

The city has some ideal spots for jet skiing. Experience the thrill of jet skiing at several places that include coastal waters along the Al Khan beach, the lagoons between Sharjah and Dubai, and Hamriya and Umm Al Quwain creeks.

Kids Zone at Al Qasba

Kids Zone at Al Qasba offers a great world of excitement, knowledge and unadulterated fun for children of various groups.

Paintball & Shooting

Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club +9716548777 offers a floodlit paintball park with jungle and savannah playing fields. The club also has a health club, pool, basketball, tennis, conference facilities and two restaurants.


These ‘fun on four’ wheel bikes can be hired in the vicinity of Fossil RockThe area is fenced off with sections to suit various ages. Helmets are provided.


Sand skiing is also becoming an enjoyable sporting activity in Sharjah. For sand skiing, Sharjah has lots of excellent ski spots situated half way to Hatta is well known as ‘Big Red’ which is very popular with the ski riders.


Wadi: The Arabic name for a valley, usually with a dry river bed. In times of heavy rainfall, a wadi is not the place to be as floods do occur. Water builds up in the mountains and is released in a wall of water, which gushes down the valley taking boulders, palm trees and even vehicles with it.The impressive Al Hajar Mountain range offers spectacular drives amid high and rugged scenery.


Enjoy water skiing at some wonderful water skiing spots which include the lagoons between Sharjah and Dubai, Hamriya and Umm Al Quwain creeks.


The Al Khan Lagoon, Al Khan Beach and the Corniche Beach provide ideal conditions for wind surfing in Sharjah. Also, the wind surfing facilities are provided by some of the seaside hotels.
